REPAIR VERSUS REPLACE IS COMING – HELP IS ON THE WAY!
By now most of you are aware that SGI is focusing on having more panels repaired rather than replaced. It just makes sense, the technology exists to facilitate more repair, and it is good for all stakeholders. Faster cycle time, less environmental impact, better gross profit for repairers, less cost to the insurers and ultimately improved customer satisfaction with their vehicle repaired with minimal impact to the OEM manufacturing process.

Can you Help a Student Get to Skills Canada?
At the recent Saskatchewan Skills Competition, a young female student won the Gold Medal in the Auto Body competition which then allows her to go and compete in Toronto at the National Skills Competition. This young lady is extremely talented and deserves a chance to compete against the best in the country but unfortunately the high school does not have money in their budget to facilitate that trip. Her family also does not have the resources to pay for such a trip which is expected to be in the $6000 range.
If you or your company is in a position to help with her expenses can you please reach out to me at dir@s-a-a-r.com or go to our EventCamp Industry & Education page at:
https://eventcamp.ca/event/industry-education-sponsorship/access
You can sign up for a monthly donation or a one-time amount as suits your budget.
Theran Bludoff, Ciara’s teacher has this to say about her:
“Ciara Schollar, a grade 10 student who has found her groove in autobody repair. An eye for detail and some natural welding skill combined to bring home a gold medal at the provincial competition. Her persistence and drive for perfection gives her an advantage on gaining the skills required to win. Shy in nature, she is reaching out to compete at nationals with a past competitor as a chaperone to help to show off her talents.“
Auto Body Repair: Why Steering Column Measurement Matters
Failure to measure the steering column after a collision event isn’t just a missed step; in many OEM procedures, it’s a missed diagnostic requirement.

Most shops are aware that a steering column inspection is required after certain collisions, but do you really understand how important it is? In a recent BodyShop Business article Jason Stahl outlines the reasons why this inspection is important, and the steps required to successfully complete it. You can read the full article here.
“Everything we do in business makes us look professional or amateurish, knowledgeable or not, innovative or not, caring or not, ethical or not. Everything we do either honors and builds our Brand…or dishonors and destroys our Brand. You and everyone on your Team should be passionate members of the ‘Brand Police’.”
PDR Rate Review
Just a quick head’s up to our PDR members, we are currently in discussions with SGI to review the compensation for PDR repairs. I should be able to put something out to you in the next month or so and the goal is to have a new deal in place for June 1st.
